BLAXLAND, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia - A serious crash took place at Blaxland in the Blue Mountains late Wednesday morning.

Two trucks collided at Coughlan Road. The Great Western Highway was closed westbound for up tpo four hours from a little after 11:00am when the crash occurred.

Emergency vehicles were still clearing the scene approaching 3:00pm when the highway was fully opened up again.

Motorists in light vehicles in the meantime were being diverted via Kidman Street, Murphy Street, Haymet Street, Grahame Street and Layton Avenue to re-join the highway.

Heavy vehicles had to wait it out. 

Westbound traffic was heavy as a result and was queued back to Glenbrook and eastbound traffic was also heavier than usual.

An investigation is underway into the cause of the collision.
