SPRINGWOOD, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia - A search is underway in the Blue Mountains for a schoolgirl missing from Faulconbridge.

Hannah Stewart, 14, failed to return home from school on Monday of this week.

Officers from the Blue Mountains Police Area Command were notified on Thursday. Police and the girl's family have serious concerns as to the girl's welfare, considering her age.

Police are now appealing for public assistance to locate Hannah.

She was last seen near her school on Grose Road at Faulconbridge, about 8:00am on Monday (20 May 2019).

Hannah is described as being of Caucasian appearance with a fair complexion, about 155cm to 160cm tall, of thin build with long red hair.

She was last seen wearing a school uniform - green jumper, white shirt, and black shorts.

Police believe Hannah may have travelled to the Nepean area with friends.
