MUDGEE, Central West, NSW, Australia - A 22-year old man is in critical condition in Westmead Hospital after an apparent vicious assault in the state's Central West.
The circumstances of the attack are unclear. The young man was found by his partner in the laundry of a home they share in Mudgee, around 1.30pm on Wednesday afternoon. He had significant bruising to his head, face and body.
He was rushed to Mudgee Hospital by ambulance before being airlifted to Westmead Hospital in Sydney in critical condition.
It is believed the man had left his home somewhere between 2:00am and 4:00am on Wednesday. The reason for him leaving at that time, and for what prupose is not known, police said.
Police attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District established a crime scene at the Inglis Street, Mudgee home and are continuing investigations into the incident.
