Body of young girl in Malaysia identified as Nora Quoirin

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia -- The parents of Irish girl Nora Quoirin have identified a body found in Malaysia as that of their missing daughter.

Nora, 15, who had special needs, was on holiday with her French-Irish family who were living in London when she disappeared from her room at the Dusun resort, just south of the Malasyian capital of Kuala Lumpur on Sunday 4 August.

Police said Tuesday the parents have confirmed the body discovered by a search team ealier that day was Nora.

A post-mortem examination was scheduled to be carried out on Wednesday.

The teenager's disappearance prompted a massive outpouring of sympathy in Malaysia, and local people poured into the dense jungle surrounding the resort to help in the search for the girl.

Her body was discovered two kilometres away from the resort near a stream, Malaysia's deputy police chief Mazlan Mansor said Tuesday.
