BEIJING -- China's surveyed unemployment rate in urban areas stood at 5.6 percent in August, 0.1 percentage points lower than that of July, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed Tuesday.

A total of 7.81 million new urban jobs were created in the first eight months of the year, down 2.03 million from the same period last year, said the NBS. (China-Job market-Unemployment rate)

LOS ANGELES -- Video-sharing social networking company TikTok said on Monday that it had submitted a proposal to the U.S. administration to resolve its "security concerns."

CANBERRA -- Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has identified gas as one of the pillars of energy plan for the nation's economic recovery from the COVID-19 crisis.

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. House of Representative could vote on a stopgap funding bill next week to avoid a potential government shutdown when the new fiscal year begins on Oct. 1, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said on Monday.

"I want to put it on the floor next week," Hoyer said in an interview with CQ Roll Call. "I want to give the Senate at least a week to pass it. I want to make sure government doesn't shut down." (US-House-Funding Bill)
