Report: Eight-time All-Star Seimone Augustus to retire

Eight-time All-Star Seimone Augustus is retiring, Winsidr reported on Thursday.

The 37-year-old Augustus has played 15 WNBA seasons, the first 14 with the Minnesota Lynx before one with the Sparks last season.

Augustus was part of four championship teams in Minnesota -- 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017. She was WNBA Finals MVP in 2011.

The report indicated Augustus will become an assistant coach with the Sparks.

Augustus was WNBA Rookie of the Year in 2006 when she averaged 21.9 points per game. She scored a career-best 22.6 during her second season.

Last season, Augustus averaged 5.9 points in 21 games off the bench.

She has career averages of 15.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 391 games (365 starts).

Augustus also is a three-time gold medalist as part of U.S Olympic teams in 2008, 2012 and 2016.

Also, the Sparks announced they traded guard Sydney Wiese to the Washington Mystics for a second-round pick in 2022.
