SYDNEY, NSW, Australia - The stabbing of a 14-year old boy in Sydney on Monday night has resulted in the arrest of a boy of the same age.
The victim of the alleged stabbing arrived at Bankstown Hospital, in Sydney's west on Monday night around 7 o'clock.
He had been stabbed in the chest.
The boy was later transferred to Randwick Children's Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command, who are investigating the incident, say the boy had been stabbed by another boy at a park in Villawood, 22 kilometres west of the Sydney CBD.
Following inquiries, the officers arrested a 14-year-old boy at a home in the nearby suburb of Bass Hill about 11.30pm.
He was taken to Bankstown Police Station and charged with reckless wounding.
The teenager was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at a children's court on Thursday 11 November 2021.
Police say the boys are known to each other and inquiries into the incident are continuing.
